February
23 , 2007:
Sorry that it's been awhile since I've blogged here . . .I'm not
quite used to
blogging, I guess. I actually think the word blog should refer to
picking one's
nose, as in, "hey, that guy over there just blogged" "yuck,
gross!!!" But that isn't
what the word means. Okay, let me start again; the latest developments
in my writing
life have mostly been spinning around two things, the upcoming national
release of
my newest novel 7 Days at the Hot Corner, and the work I've been
doing on a
re-publication of my poem Sheehan, along with a long interview about
the poem, my
son, and my career since that poem was published in 1992. This Sheehan
publication
will be under the publishing entity United Writers, an invention
of mine along with
Rene Saldana from Texas. We started United Writers so that edgy,
weird and otherwise
un-publishable stuff might find a home out there and be marketed
mainly through the
internet, rather than at the discretion of Barnes and Noble and
Oprah Winfrey and
the huge bean-counting publishing companies. Sheehan is our first
test case book, so
hopefully all of you will buy a copy when it becomes available,
probably May or
June. Much more on Sheehan, United Writers and picking my nose later
. . .thanks for
checking in.
For snail-mailers, a reminder, it's a lot easier to write
back to emails:
TO: Joshua
T from Chula Vista CA. and Ryan T from Tampa Fl.:
I do have another new book coming out. It will be available in
March and is titled 7 Days at the Hot Corner. I hope you guys
like it!
TO: Brittany P from Rhinebeck NY:
I love to write and yes, I too have my best times
writing in a quiet private place.
TO: Katie J from Oakfield NY:
If you haven't read my second novel Inside Out you
might enjoy it, also any books by Chris Crutcher and Laurie Halse-Anderson
. . .they
are both great writers--say hi to your mom and Stephanie for me!
TO: Dylan S. from Marion AR:
I already wrote you an email back because you left me your email
address, I hope you got it.
Thanks to all of you for writing and to the hundreds of others
of my readers who
have written to me: I'll try to keep up as best I can dropping
notes back to you
here on this blog, but remember, I have to write and travel a
lot too, so forgive me
if I'm a bit slow once in awhile getting back to you.
Signing out for now,
TT
